Mr. Germain is Founder and Managing Partner of Rouge River Capital, a merchant bank focused on acquiring controlling stakes in private midmarket transportation and manufacturing companies, and whose portfolio currently includes nine operating businesses in Canada and the USA.
Mr. Germain has extensive governance experience, and is currently a Board Director or Chairman on various public and private corporate Boards, including TAL International (NYSE:TAL), the worldwide market leader in global ocean shipping container leasing. As part of a Rouge River investment, Mr. Germain has also held the position of Board Director, and co-CEO, of SMTC Corporation (NASD: SMTX), a $300 million global electronics contract manufacturer.
Prior to Rouge River, and from 2004 to 2009, Mr. Germain was Managing Director (EVP/COO) of Schenker of Canada Ltd., one of Canada’s largest transportation and logistics companies with over $1B in gross revenues. Mr Germain started his career as a management consultant for The Boston Consulting Group. In 2002 and 2007, Mr. Germain won Canadian Executive of the Year in Logistics. Mr. Germain holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Engineering Physics (Nuclear) from Queen’s University.
